A Christ Filled Life – Getting To Know Jesus
Wonderful Service today and our Pastor’s inspirational message was on Noah and “Don’t Miss The Boat” and “The Power of One”. Yesterday I watched a movie called “One Foot In Heaven” with Frederic March. I didn’t know who Frederic March was and did not know I was crying through the movie and could not help myself. His part, is a Pastor and family man. It was beautiful. It’s a wonderful thing to be called to Pastor and Preach the Word of God, its a special calling from God.
</p>”Suffering For Being A Christian”, 1Peter 4:11) Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when His Glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. Revelation 1:9. 14) If ye be reproached for the Name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of Glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part He is Glorified. Matthew 10:20. 15) But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Acts 5:41. 16) Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him Glorify God on this behalf. Malachi 3:5. 17) For the time is come that judgment must begin at the House of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the Gospel of God? Luke 10:12. 18) And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19) Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a Faithful Creator. Psalm 31:5.
Matthew Henry’s Concise Bible Commentary – v12-19, By patience and fortitude in suffering, by dependence on the promises of God, and keeping to the Word the Holy Spirit hath revealed, the Holy Spirit is Glorified; but by the contempt and reproaches cast upon Believers, He is evil spoken of, and is blasphemed. One would think such cautions were needless to Christians. But their enemies falsely charged them with foul crimes. And even the best of men need to be warned against the worst of sins. There is no comfort in sufferings, when we bring them upon ourselves by our own sin and folly. A time of universal calamity was at hand, as foretold by our Saviour, Matthew 24:9-10. And if such things befall in this life, how awful will the day of judgment be! All outward difficulties would be as nothing, were it not for lusts and corruptions within. These are the worst clogs and troubles. And if the way of the righteous be so hard, then how hard shall be the end of the ungodly sinner, who walks in sin with delight, and thinks the righteous is a fool for all his pains! The only way to keep the soul well, is, to commit it to God by prayer, and patient perseverance in well-doing. Amen.
