“Jesus, A Miracle Worker”/The Unbelief of the Jews

A Christ Filled Life – Getting To Know Jesus

Studying and meditating on God’s Holy Word, the Bible; helps us to understand God, His Son Jesus and The Holy Spirit.  It enables us to know when something said or done is right or wrong.  It’s that Old Saying, ” I know, that I know, that I know”.

When I share the Word of God I use a lot of Commentaries, the Study Bible and Dictionaries.  Tools of God’s Holy Word.  I received my Study Bible as a gift almost 20 yrs ago from B. Stewart, a kind woman, who was concerned about my Salvation; we often had Bible study on our lunchtime.   I also have Commentaries from the many years that I taught Sunday School.

I am willing to discuss God’s word though Posted Email in a friendly and positive way.  Everything I share is supported by the Bible, Theologians and or Testimony.

“The Unbelief of the Jews ” John 10: 22) And it was at Jerusalem the Feast of the Dedication (The rededication of the Temple to the Lord, Hanukkah), and it was winter.  23) And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s Porch.  24) Then came the Jews round about Him, and said unto Him, How long dost thou make us to doubt?  If thou be the Christ ( the Anointed One), tell us plainly.  25) Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not:  the works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.  26) But ye believe not, because ye are not of My sheep, as I said unto you.  1John 4:6.  27) My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.  28) And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  29) My Father, which gave them Me. is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them our of my Father’s hand.  30) I and My Father are One.  31) Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.  32) Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from My Father, for which of those works do ye stone Me?  33) The Jews answered Him, saying, For a good work we stone Thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that Thou, being a man, makest Thyself God.  Philippians 2:6.   34) Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?  Psalm 82:6.   35) If he called them gods, unto whom the Word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Romans 13;1.  36) Say ye of Him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent unto the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?  Luke 1:35; John 9:35.  37) If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.  38) But if I do, though ye believe not Me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.  John 14:10.   39) Therefore they sought again to take Him; but He escaped out of their hand,  40) And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there He abode.  41) An many resorted unto Him, and said, John did no miracle:  but all things that John spake of this man were true.  42) And many believed on Him there.  John 8:30.

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary – v22-30 All who have anything to say to Christ, may find Him in the Temple. The Jews understood His meaning; but could not form a charge against Him. He described the happy (joyous) state of His sheep, they heard and believed His word, followed Him as His faithful disciples and none should perish; for the Son and the Father are one.
v31-38 Christ’s work of power proclaim Him to be over all. Whom the Father sends, He sanctifies. The Holy God will reward. Many of us may feel that the rewards are few in this life, but certainly not in the next. The Father was in the Son, so that by Divine power He wrought His miracles; the Son was so in the Father, that He knew the whole of His mind. We know this because we believe the declarations of God and His Son.
v39-42 No weapon formed against Our Lord Jesus shall prosper. He escaped, not because He was afraid to suffer, but because His hour was not come. And He knows how to deliver those who believe in Him out of their temptations, and to make a way for them to escape. Amen.
More to come and God Bless You.
