A Christ Filled Life – Getting To Know Jesus

>

Why Read the Bible?  Reading through the Bible brings out the awesome wonder of God as He speaks to and loves the humanity He created.  Because Christ is the incarnation of God, the New Testament should be prominent in any Bible reading plan.  To be continued.

“The Shepherd And His Flock”, John 10:1) Verily, Verily (Truly, Truly), I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.  Isaiah 56:10.  2) But He that entereth in by the door is the Shepherd of the sheep.  Acts 20:28; 1 Corinthians 12:28.  3) To him the Porter openeth; and the sheep hear His voice:  and He calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  4) And  when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him:  for they know His voice.  5) And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.  Proverbs 19:27; Colossians 2:8.  6) Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.  8) All that ever came before Me are thieves and robbers:  but the sheep did not hear them.  9) I am the door:  by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  10) The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11)I am the Good Shepherd, the Good Shepherd giveth His Life for the sheep. 12) But he that is an hireling, and not The Shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13) The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. 14) I am the Good Shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 2Timothy 2:19.15) As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16) And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd. 17) Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again.18) No man taketh it from Me; but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father. Acts 2:24. 19) There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.20) And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye Him? 21)Others said, These are not the words of Him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind? Exodus 4:11; Isaiah 35:5.

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary – v1-5The Church of God in the world is as a sheepfold (a walled enclosure), exposed to deceivers and persecutors. The Great Shepherd of the sheep knows all that are His, guards them by His providence, guides them by His Spirit and Word, and goes before them, as the Eastern shepherds went before their sheep, to set them in the way of His steps.
v6-9 Many who hear the Word of Christ, do not understand it, because they will not. Christ is the Door: And what greater security has the Church of God than that the Lord Jesus is between it and all its enemies? We must come in by Jesus Christ as the Door: and by faith in Him as the great Mediator between God and man. He expects the Church, and every Believer to wait on Him: and to stay in His Pasture.
v10-19 Christ is a good Shepherd; others were not necessarily thieves, but were careless in their duty, and by their neglect the flock was much hurt. See here the grace of Christ: since none could demand His Life of Him, He laid it down Himself for our redemption. Our Lord laid down His Life for His sheep. Amen.
v19-21
Satan ruins many, because we are conceited and will not trust or accept God’s Word or His ordinances. We are ashamed or embarrassed to share God’s word in order to bring other sheep into the fold. Let us not be mindful of what others think, but remember how our Master was thus rejected before us.

  1. Where does it say Christ is the incarnation of God? The Bible is very clear: there is only One God, the Supreme High Being, the Almighty Elohim Hashem Jehovah. This Divine Creator of all things, who never tells lies also said about the Nazarene man, nephew of John the Baptist, that this man baptised by water was His (God’s) son. Later Jesus also told that we got to know his Father, the only one God, to whom he prayed and we should pray as well. We only may worship this Only One God, whose name is holy and is Jehovah.

    1. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in Heaven, The Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Haggai 2:5, 7.

John 10:30 I and the Father are one.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Revelation 19:13.

  2. 1 John 5:7 does not say Christ Jesus is God, but says a.o that Jesus bears the same record as his Father and as the Holy Spirit, which is the Force or thinking and handling of God. They are one like any family would be one and like a church community should be one, but that does not mean that they all are the same person. Their ideas and their talking is in unison with each other.

When we say a person is one with his firm we never are going to consider that person being the same as the firm idem dito with a girl or a boy who are the same as their parents. When we say they are one we never would consider them to be one and the same person.

When John wrote his gospel he wanted to have a similar composition or refer to the creation of the world, now having a new creation. Therefore he goes back to the Book of Genesis, where in the Garden of Eden the promise was made for a Saviour. That promise or Word of God came into being when the virgin Mary (Miriam) got the child Jeshua or Jesus Christ. As such the Saying of God or the Word of God which was of God came into realisation. Like Pharaoh and other high person are called god and there have been and are still people called god today (look at the sport and entertainment business) but hopefully you would not consider them the God, so it is with the Nazarene Jeshua, a man of flesh and blood who was rally tempted and really died while God can neither of these and cannot seen by men or they would die, but many saw Christ and lived even longer than Jesus.
